Ayurvedic Blocks Treatment: How to Get Rid of Blockages
What are
Ayurveda blocks?
Ayurveda
block therapy works by releasing tension from your body through different
techniques, including massage, compression and heat therapy.
It's about
restoring your balance and harmony within your body.
Blockages
are the result of a build-up of toxins in one or more of the body's energy
channels. Blockages can cause fatigue, pain, and other symptoms. Blockages can
also be caused by injury, illness, or surgery. Blockages are most often caused
by a build-up of toxins in the colon, liver, or kidneys. Blockages can also be
caused by certain foods, such as dairy, wheat, or caffeine. Some blockages are
caused by physical trauma and can be treated with physical therapy, diet, and
herbal supplements.
What
causes blockages in the body?
The human
body is made up of individual cells that are joined together by a network of
structures known as the ‘cell wall’. These structures are made up of proteins,
fats and carbohydrates. The cell wall is like a protective membrane that keeps
harmful substances out and allows nutrients to be absorbed by the body.
The most
common cause of blockages in the body is inflammation which occurs when there
is an injury to a particular area of the body. This can be caused by infection
or trauma, such as during childbirth or injury due to an accident or disease.
Inflammation can also occur when our immune system detects infection and
tries to fight it off.
Inflammation
can be caused by:
Risk factors
include smoking, lack of exercise and obesity – these increase your risk of
heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
What are the signs and symptoms of blockage?
The signs
and symptoms of blockage include:
• Blocked urine flow (urinary
incontinence)
• Pain or discomfort during urination
• Lower back pain
• Nocturia (waking up at night to urinate)
How do
you treat blockages in Ayurveda?
Ayurveda has
many treatments that help to clear blockages in the body.
The most
common ayurvedic blockage treatment is called nauli kriya yoga, a combination of yoga and breathing exercises.
During Nauli
kriya, the practitioner works to improve the function of the three main body
systems: digestive, respiratory and circulatory. The goal is to increase blood
flow to these areas so they can do their jobs more effectively.
Nauli kriya
can be done in multiple ways. In some cases, it's performed while sitting on a
chair and engaging in deep breathing exercises. In other cases, it requires
lying on the floor with your legs up in the air while you perform diaphragmatic
breathing exercises.
